HERE IS WHERE THE MONEY GOES
Since 1990 the Logan County Education Foundation has provided more than $283,000.00 in teacher grants for innovative projects. Whether elementary students are engaged in hands on activities, middle school students are participating in a Math Festival, or high school students are conducting science experiments, students in all four school districts in Logan County are benefiting from in Small Grants to Teachers and Dedicated Grants awarded through funds managed by the Logan County Education Foundation. The majority of the funds for these grants comes from our fund drive. during the 2009 - 2010 school year 21 grants were made possible by generous Logan County community members like YOU. Read what these teachers have to say about their grants.
This was my first year writing and receiving two grants. Because of the generosity of the LCEF supporters, I was able to implement these two grants at Southeastern Elementary. In October we held Fall Festival, bringing in over 40 community experts and volunteers to help us link agriculture to our science and social studies curriculum with hands-on activities. I also received a grant to fund the purchase of children's books to connect difficult Kindergarten math concepts with literature. Please support the LCEF fund drive to continue to support the learners in our community!

Although there are many worthy causes in our community, I believe that the LCEF is uniquely positioned to benefit all of our youth in the greater Logan County area. Riverside Elementary has been very fortunate to receive several Logan County Education Grants. We have used man
undation that support that passion and that enable me to challenge my students in new and interesting ways. Please make education your priority and support the Logan County Education Foundation as they plant the seeds of learning in our students!

W
hile teaching special education at Benjamin Logan Middle School, I was fortunate to receive a grant through the Logan County Education Foundation to fund an astronomy unit. As I transitioned from the classroom into my current position as a high school guidance counselor at Indian Lake, I discovered another way the LCEF could benefit students. This time on a larger scale. Through another grant, Indian Lake was able to purchase multiple copies of a book that provided essential tips and drills for our students to increase their scores on the ACT.

y of these to make an impact in science. The most recent building grant allotment enabled us to bring COSI to Riverside. We conducted a Spectacular Science Night that included COSI Science Spots allowing for hands-on learning in motion for students and their families. Many of our families are not able to visit COSI in Columbus. This was an excellent opportunity for students to explore areas of science education and inquiry. We brought many organizations from Logan County and Riverside Schools, specifically the Soil and Water Conservation and Logan County Library and school organizations. The Logan County Education Foundation and its generous contributors made it possible for our students to develop a love of learning.
