READ WHAT CURRENT GRANT TEACHERS HAVE TO SAY
The majority of the funds for these grants comes from our fund drive. During the 2011 - 2012 school year a building wide grant to each building was made possible by generous Logan County community members like YOU and a grant from the Honda Foundation. In addition, 8 other grants from LCEF managed grant funds are being implemented as well. Read what these teachers have to say about their grants.
The teachers of Logan County are very fortunate to have the support of a wonderful organization like the Logan County Education
Foundation. The LCEF has provided grants to fund countless educational initiatives throughout Logan County. Northeastern Elementary students have benefited tremendously from the generous grants over the years. These grants have allowed our students a variety of opportunities that many of our students may not have experienced without funding from the Logan County Education Foundation. This year our students were able to participate in an engaging hands-on assembly where the Columbus Zoo brought a variety of their animals to our school. During the assembly, the students learned about the animals' habitats and adaptations. In addition to the assembly, the building level grant funded the purchase of numerous books about animals to add to our classroom libraries. We greatly appreciate the generous donations that fund the grants from the Logan County Education Foundation!

I have been an educator for nearly thirteen years. Through the generosity of the Logan County Education Foundation, I have been able to purchase some of the materials I use for hands on activities with my students.
I have received a grant for 500-gallon fish tank, auto darkening welding helmets, soil science kit, and air quality kits. Most recently I received a grant for a soybean science kit. The kit exceeded my expectations. With the kit, my students were able to experience biotechnology instead of just reading about it. Through the experiences, the students shared their knowledge with fourth grade students. High school students worked with the elementary students to make lip balm and hand cream with soybeans and bees wax as bases. Students will also be using the kit to make hand soap and power toy boats. Previously, I was able to purchase auto-darkening helmet for the students. The helmets provided confidence and increased safety when students were starting to weld, as they could see what they were going. The grant monies made it possible for these students to have these experiences.
As school systems continue to tighten their belts due to state budget cuts and other influences, the Logan County Education Foundation grant program continues to provide an alternative funding source for educators. I, as well as my co-workers, appreciate the support of the Logan County Education Foundation and look forward to a continuous partnership between the Logan County Education Foundation and Benjamin Logan.

I have receiv
ed several grants from the Logan County Education Foundation. The current grant is an extension of a previous grant which has allowed us the opportunity to begin creating a Science experience for students where they can explore, investigate, and learn about a wetlands habitat in the area directly behind the school! Our grant has been used to purchase microscopes which will be used in the spring when we are able to be outside in the wetland area.
I want to thank the Logan County Education Foundation for helping provide us with the funds needed for a great start toward our goal of using the wetlands for student achievement and learning.

I have received grant money from the Logan County Education Foundation several times. In this day and age of education funding, grants have become an invaluable source for classroom materials. As a science teacher, equipment is expensive. The LCEF grant money I have been awarded has allowed me to purchase supplies and replace old or purchase new equipment. I am very thankful for the money that is available through the Logan County Education Foundation!

View pictures from some of this year's grants. Since 1990 the Logan County Education Foundation has provided more than $304,200.00 in teacher grants for innovative projects. Whether elementary students are engaged in activities to become fluent readers, middle school students are creating works of art with recycled materials or gaining math confidence through individual activities, or elementary school students are having a science museum visit their school, students in all four school districts in Logan County are benefiting from in Small Grants to Teachers and Dedicated Grants awarded through funds managed by the Logan County Education Foundation.
